JP

Though I have a French name and an Italian last name, I’m Dominican. Born and raised in the Spanish-colonized half of an island in the Caribbean, my native language is Spanish. I was able to learn English with a steady diet of subbed Disney VHS movies, Canadian cousins, and school. I love photography and movies, so much so that I studied filmmaking in Buenos Aires. I also love nature, analog photography, and random music. I’ve been working in student travel since 2013 and have been an SLC in Costa Rica since Spring 2022.

Hashim

Originally from Maryland, but I’ve called several places around the world and around the U.S. home. My studies in International Education Management have led me to be very passionate about promoting access to international and multicultural educational experiences. I also place a lot of importance on mental and emotional wellbeing, so if you ever need any support please come to me and let me know what I can do to help, even if you just need someone to listen. I love all things nerdy, but in particular I am a fan of Dungeons and Dragons, anime, fantasy and mystery books, and puzzles. And PLEASE send all your scary movie recommendations my way.

Alexis

Hi everyone! I am so excited to get to know you all. I am from a suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana and went to Indiana University. After graduating, I moved to Madrid, Spain to teach English and go to graduate school. I lived there for three years and loved every second! I am super passionate about languages, travel, and gaining authentic cultural experiences. A fun fact about me is I am an adventurous foodie—everything deserves a no-thank-you bite!

Maia

Hi there! My name is Maia and I’m originally from Delray Beach, FL. I’m a double UF grad (go Gators!) graduating with my master’s in public interest communications. I’m a friendly soul, filled with moxie and optimism. I’m driven by my sense of empathy and heart for humanity and I’m always on the lookout for my next adventure. Whether that’s working in Vietnam or living in Spain, I’m constantly finding ways to grow, learn, and live my life outside of my comfort zone. Some of my interests include making art, playing ultimate frisbee, practicing yoga and meditation, and making new friends! I can’t wait to meet you this semester!

Josue

Born in the beautiful land of Turrialba, I’m a proud Costa Rican. As a wellness specialist, life coach, and yoga teacher, I have worked in many different places such as luxury hotels and with people in social vulnerability. I love to create communities in every place I go. I believe in love and in human empowerment. Crossfit, Judo, and hiking are some of my hobbies.

Kat

I am a Costa Rican, with plenty of experience in environmental education and outdoors, as well as a passionate tour leader. Throughout my career I have been involved in experiential learning with students from different ages and backgrounds. I believe in the transformational power of traveling and the positive impact that responsible tourism has in the communities around the world. Fun fact: My favorite movie is Finding Nemo and I love avocados.
